The Skins Factory Unleashes the Official Xbox Skin for Windows Media Player

Plantation, FL -- The Skins Factory, Inc., a custom interface and digital graphics studio announced today that they have completed work for Microsoft on the Official Xbox Skin for the Windows Media Player platform. As a global leader in interface design and skin development, The Skins Factory enhances the power of Windows Media Player customization through the use of high-end quality graphics, animations, user interactivity and marketing content. The Skins Factory enables their customers to build consumer loyalty by delivering dynamic, personalized skins for Microsoft Windows Media Player.

“The Official Xbox skin for Windows Media Player is a perfect example of how The Skins Factory can take a company’s brand and create a marketing tool that the end-user will readily embrace.” said Jeff Schader, President and Founder of The Skins Factory, Inc. “This type of personalized marketing can be applied to other areas with strong fan-bases including music artists, movies, televisions or businesses.”

“For Microsoft’s Xbox skin, we strove to create a look that really emphasized the Xbox brand but still had a life of its own. What we came up with was an ergonomic style for the skin which we feel is an excellent companion to its “real-world” counterpart.”

The Skins Factory created two versions of the skin, one optimized to take advantage of the extra features found in Windows Media Player for Windows XP and another version for the Windows Media Player 7.1 users. Both versions of the Official Xbox skin are available for download at http://www.xbox.com/downloads/wmskin/, and beginning April 1 will be available at WindowsMedia.com and theSkinsFactory.com.

“The Windows Media Player platform is extremely advanced when it comes to customization. This is due to the fact that Windows Media Player utilizes XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Jscript coding which allows us to enhance a skin more than other media applications allow.” Using XML and Jscript enables our skin authors to develop ways to enhance both a company’s marketing potential and the end-user's overall media playback experience by including introduction and audio playback animations, separate screens for playlist and video playback functions and an informational, marketing mode.

“The Skins Factory has done great work developing this stunning new Windows Media Player skin for Xbox fans,” said Jonathan Usher, Group Manager of the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. “With a stylish look inspired by Xbox, a compact size, and custom visualizations and animations, this skin is a great way to experience streaming game previews, soundtracks, and gamer interviews on your PC.”

The Xbox Windows Media Player skins are the third series of skins created by The Skins Factory for Microsoft in recent months. In November, 2001, The Skins Factory was contracted by Microsoft to create skins for the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps) and for the United States Coast Guard. They are available for download at www.windowsmedia.com. In December of 2001, The Skins Factory was selected as the developer of the skins included in the popular Windows Media Bonus Pack for Windows XP.
