PDF2DTP Released for Editing PDFs within Adobe InDesign

Markzware is known for its range of document preflighting solutions but it also provides Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress document conversion software. MarkzTools, for example, converts between versions of XPress, while Q2ID converts from XPress to InDesign, ID2Q goes in the other direction by converting from InDesign to XPress, and PUB2ID converts Microsoft Publisher to InDesign. Then there's PDF2DTP.

The idea is that there is often a need to edit PDF files for which the original document layout file is missing. The alternatives here are to either manually convert the PDF one page at a time or re-create the document from scratch. PDF2DTP provides a third approach in the form of a plugin for InDesign (a similar XTension is available for QuarkXPress).

The latest versiion adds support for InDesign CC 2017 as well as a glyph editor tool for manually selecting which glyph (a character as displayed in the document) to use for a missing glyph.

PDF2DTP for Mac InDesign CS5 or higher can be purchased on the Markzware site for $199 a year.
