Illustrator Fundamentals: Create a Simple 3D Effect With Blends

Download the blend3D.eps file, launch Illustrator and open the file. Press F7 to show the Layers palette. Drag Layer 1 to the Create New Layer button to duplicate it. Click the Visibility icon (eye) next to Layer 1 copy to hide it. Select Layer 1. Choose Select > All (Command + A). Choose Filter > Colors > Saturate. Use the options in the resulting Saturate dialog box and click OK.
Select the Scale tool (S). Option-click the image. Use the options in the resulting Scale dialog box and click Copy. Choose Object > Arrange > Send to Back (Command + Shift + [ ). Choose Window > Transparency (Command + Shift + F10). Use the options in the resulting Transparency palette. Choose Select > Deselect (Command + Shift + A). Choose View > Outline (Command + Y).
Using the Selection tool (V), press Shift and click the first girl from both groups. Double-click the Blend tool (W). Use the options in the resulting Blend Options dialog box and click OK. Click a point on the small girl, then click the corresponding point on the large girl. Choose Select > Deselect (Command + Shift + A). Repeat to add blends to each child. Choose View > Preview (Command + Y). Click the Visibility square next to Layer 1 copy to reveal it.
