In this tutorial, I'll show you how enhance the color of the sky and other light areas, to increase contrast and saturation. Open the desired image for editing.
Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J) and change the blending mode of the new layer to Difference.
On the new layer, apply a Shadow/Highlight filter (Filter > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlight) with the following properties:
Shadows: 0%
Highlights: 100%
Duplicate the Background layer (Ctrl+J) and add a layer mask (Layer > Add Layer Mask > Reveal All) on the new layer.
With the layer mask selected, use the Apply Image tool (Image> Apply Image) to apply the following properties:
Layer: Merged
Channel: RGB
Invert: Unchecked
Blending: Multiply
Opacity: 100%
Delete the top layer.
On the top layer, use the Brightness/Contrast tool (Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast) to apply the following properties:
Brightness: -25
Contrast: +50
Add a Color Overlay layer style (Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay) to the current layer and apply the following properties to the layer style:
Blend Mode: Screen
Color: Select a color of your choice.
Opacity: Adjust accordingly to create a similar effect as the image in this step.
