Sponsored by HOW magazine, the conference continues its focus on three key components of graphic design: creativity, business and technology.
Launched in 1991, the HOW Design Conference is based on the recognition that graphic design is a business, as well as an art. Conference sessions accordingly are weighted with an emphasis on creative and business topics.
Dispensing with the traditional track approach, sessions this time are instead tagged with a particular focus, such as Software, Creativity, In-House, Design Disciplines, Freelance and Business. Session topics include Change the Way You Think About Type, CSS: Web Basics for Designers, Design and Social Responsibility, and How to Create and Deliver Your Best Portfolio. Speakers include David Berman, Von Glitschka, Debbie Millman, Armin Vit and Cameron Moll.
To be held June 6 through 9, 2010, the Design Conference also provides such extras as a two-day, hands-on Photoshop course from Adobe Senior Creative Director Russell Brown; a tour of Denver design studios; a Stock Photography Expo; three-hour pre-conference workshops; and professional critiques of attendee portfolios.
