The avatar customization service is geared to creative professionals, as well as developers of games, online worlds and real-time environments.
DAZ is well-known in the graphics community for providing a library of characters and accessories, as well as developing a range of applications that support its content, including free 3D digital art creation tool DAZ Studio; Mimic, a lip-synching application; Carrara, an all-in-one 3D solution; and Bryce, a complete 3D environment and animation package. In December of 2009 it merged with Gizmoz, a specialist in photo-realistic head reconstruction and the provider of an online personalization service, with the goal of the resulting firm being to "create the foremost online marketplace for high-quality and inter-compatible digital characters and accessories."
The first manifestion of the newly-minted DAZ-Gizmoz entity is the Digimi.com site, where visitors can use the Avatar Studio to create personalized avatars. Addressing game developers’ need for high-quality 3D content, DAZ 3D-Gizmoz has also launched a new End-user License Agreement (EULA) which provides developer distribution licensing for theircollection of 3D figures and assets.
