Win/Mac: Vertus Releases Bling! It for Product Shot Creation
Posted on Wednesday, November 07
The new tool is designed specifically for enhancing images of products destined for online sale.

Vertus is probably best known to the digital design community for its Fluid Mask Photoshop plugin, which provides sophisticated masking capabilities with a price tag of $239. While Fluid Mask to a great extent automates the masking process, which for many Photoshop users remains a trial by fire, Vertus looked beyond its core customer base and apparently realized that an even larger group of people were struggling to make their photos of objects for online sale look more seductive—with limited results. Bling! It to the rescue.

The Windows application (a Mac version is in development) employs Vertus' edge detection technology to make it easy for users to quickly remove images from their backgrounds, and then employ one of the many supplied backgrounds to create a more appealing shot that can include drop shadowing, highlight effects and logos. Bling! It also optimizes image size, resolution and data weight (kilobytes), to meet the requirements of e-commerce and online auction sites. Nice touches include the ability to sharpen product appearance without hiding a product’s characteristic imperfections (important on auction sites) as well as adjust the edge blending between the product and its background.

Bling! It for Windows can be purchased on the blingit.us site for $49.95. A trial version is also available for download.
