Plugin Galaxy provides such imaging functions as transparency manipulation, blurring, texture and pattern generation, noise creation, mirroring and warping. It also includes metal, chrome, neon, pop art, glass, page curl, rainbow, sunshine and star effects. Additionally you can enhance, colorize, add edges to your photos or even encrypt them. There are also some rare plugin effects, such as feedbacks, grids and zooming. All the effects are available from a single dialog box, with thousands of effects possible via the various controls and blend modes.

It's been five years since the last Plugin Galaxy for Windows update, with a Mac version 1.50 released during that time. Version 2 marks a complete rewrite, and now sports the more feature-rich dialog box of developer The Plugin Sites's PhotoWiz plugins, as well as several features from its Harrys Filters 3 collection. A new Play button generates random animations and a new Layers feature lets users apply multiple effects without leaving the plugin dialog. The developer also claims a rendering speed increase of up to two times faster, while supporting 16-bit RGB and grayscale images. Also new is a batch processing capability, Bluuur effects, Page Curl for large images and 400 presets for creating typical effects.
