 Tools for stringing together a series of digital images via defined click points have been around for some time but have traditionally not found widespread adoption on the Web, due to the need for visitors to download and install special players of various kinds. The widespread adoption of Macromedia Flash, as well as the growing abilities of Flash itself, has now all but erased such barriers, with the "virtuality reality tours" generated by Mapwing Pro now capable of being delivered via Flash or the OpenGL-based Mapwing Viewer.
Version 1.5 improves Flash export, supports high resolution map backgrounds of up to 10,240 by 10,240 pixels, and provides a thumbnail view for media assets. Mapwing Creator Pro for OS X can be purchased on the Redbug Technologies site for $295, with a demo available for download. The $39 shareware Mapwing Creator is scheduled for a summer 2006 release. |
