Win/Mac: Bit Editions Provides Programmable Displays for Designers and Artists
Posted on Wednesday, January 25
Looking for a new medium to conquer? With an ambiguously retro/futuristic feel, a programmable LED display might be just thing.

With displays getting ever larger and sporting ever higher resolutions, why not shift into reverse and embrace a medium that's gloriously lo-res? That's what Bit Editions is making possible with its 12 by 14-inch displays that contain just a single light-emitting diode per square inch, with each LED capable of eight levels of brightness.

Software is included for creating up to 1,984 frames for animations, which can be created using included software. Customers can also provide frames from their own animation software in a suitably old-fashioned file format, BMP, which Bit Editions will convert into an animation.

Unframed displays are priced at $235, while $295 will get you the frame in a kit that requires assembly. A framed and fully assembled display costs $359. More information is available on the Bit Editions site.
