The Corel Painter IX 9.1 update is available as a free download for Painter IX users, while the competitive upgrade makes Painter available for almost half price.
Painter has established a niche fir itself as the most potent cross-platform natural media application. Version 9.1 adds such functionality as dual monitor support for Windows, five new brushes in addition to the five released earlier for the Wacom 6D Art Pen, enhanced dab support for rotation expression (a dab is responsible for the shape and behavior of the tool used to create a stroke), support for one channel when working with Targa files and enhanced support for Mac OS X Tiger.
Until August 31, 2005, new customers in North America and the United Kingdom can purchase Painter IX for the usual upgrade price of $229, a savings of $200 off the full suggested retail price of $429. The only requirement is to be a current user of "any graphics or imaging software package" from Macromedia, ACD Systems, Corel, Microsoft or Apple.
