Win/Mac: HumanEyes 3D Extends Formats for Creating Printed Stereographic Effects
Posted on Friday, May 20
HumanEyes 3D has expanded its existing software offerings with a new product that supports the printing of 3D effects directly on plastic media in smaller sizes.

The objective of HumanEyes 3D is to simplify the creation and output of stereographic images, using a single, standard digital camera. Such images are used increasingly for advertising media ranging from conventional print and packaging, to backlit and wide-format signs, due to the response they can generate in the viewer. HumanEyes 3D cites a Market Watch study indicating that 88% of respondents preferred advertisements generated with its products versus 2D equivalents. Large brands using HumanEyes 3D for campaigns includes the Miss Universe Organization, Looney Tunes, Coca Cola, Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Rum and Dove Shampoo.

The workflow for creating a 3D lenticular image is quite straightforward, beginning with the creation of a standard digital photograph. The image is then run through the HumanEyes 3D software, which provides the ability to add other graphical elements and text before automatically creating the final lenticular image.

The result is a file that's ready for output on a variety of devices, for creating photographic, inkjet or flatbed output. Scenes can be re-used for different printing sizes and depth effects without the need to reshoot, making it practical to use lenticular images in a variety of ways during a campaign.

The new HumanEyes Litho 3D software is designed for the creation of small- and medium- format jobs at resolutions up to 2540 dpi and sizes up to 20 x 28 inches. The existing Litho 3D L and XL support similar resolutions but can be used for output up to 28 x 40 inches and in unlimited sizes, respectively. HumanEyes also announced that it will soon release a solution that supports output on narrow format (46-inch) direct imaging devices, including those from Ryobi, KPG and Heidelberg.

More information is available on the HumanEyes 3D site.
