Win/Mac: Piranesi 4 for OS X Now Shipping
Posted on Thursday, March 17
Previously available for Windows, this is the first version of Informatix Software International's 3D architectural painting app to be available for Macintosh.

Using Piranesi, designers start with simple models and renderings, and subsequently fill in details and create hand-drawn effects. The program makes use of the capabilities of the EPix (Extended Pixel) file format, in which every pixel stores depth and material information alongside the color values supplied by the rendering application. Piranesi uses this extended pixel data to control the operation of its painting tools and for the application of textures, cutouts and atmospheric effects. Many CAD and visualization programs can generate EPix files, and these can also be created with the Vedute renderer supplied with Piranesi.

More product information is provided on the Informatix Software International site. Mac and Windows demos are also available for download.
