Mac: Extensis Ships Portfolio 6.1 for Mac OS X
Posted on Wednesday, January 29
Portland, OR -- Extensis today announced immediate availability of Portfolio 6.1 for Mac OS X – its award-winning Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution. In addition to adding Mac OS X compatibility, Portfolio 6.1 offers new features that make it the easiest and most effective way for professionals to share, organize, retrieve and distribute the digital files they create and use on a regular basis.

Portfolio is the first pro-caliber level tool for organizing and managing all digital file types in Mac OS X and Extensis has now completely migrated its entire Portfolio product line to Mac OS X. Extensis announced Portfolio Server for Mac OS X in July of 2002. Combining the strength of the Mac OS X client and server capabilities, Extensis offers users a complete management solution for complex digital file organization needs.

“Portfolio has been completely rewritten to take advantage of powerful new Mac OS X features, bringing creative professionals entirely new functionality for organizing their assets,” said Joe Schorr, senior product manager, Extensis.

Registered owners of Portfolio 6 are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Portfolio 6.1 through the Extensis website at http://www.extensis.com/portfolio.

New Features in Portfolio 6.1

Portfolio 6.1 offers new features including a redesigned user interface that seamlessly reflects the overall Mac OS X look and feel. Additionally, Portfolio 6.1 adds a recently used catalogs menu when Portfolio 6.1 is running, allowing users to open and access any recently opened catalog by selecting it from a pop-up menu within the Mac OS X Dock.

Other new features to the product include long filename support, allowing users to manage file and folder names that are more than 31 characters long and a new batch rename feature that allows users to rename a whole batch of images after they have been cataloged.
