Win/Mac: New Artistry Painting for Photographers Tutorial CD Available

Tips/Tutorials Sherman Oaks, CA -- The Write-Design Studio has just released the Artistry Painting for Photographers Tutorial CD. Readable by Macintosh and Windows, the CD contains brand-new step-by-step Acrobat-format tutorials that explain how to turn photographs into paintings using Procreate Painter. Written and illustrated by Painter authority, Karen Sperling, the tutorials and accompanying images cover much-requested Painter techniques including editing portrait and landscape photos to look like paintings and creating painterly backgrounds for portrait photographs.

The tutorials on the Artistry Painting for Photographers Tutorial CD not only explain how to use Painter tools including tracing paper, cloning and layers, but also feature art techniques such as determining values using a pencil sketch, painting underpaintings and using complementary colors for shading. The tutorials feature photographs by Scott Stulberg and cover oil painting and watercolor techniques, and are compatible with both Painter 6 and Painter 7.

"Many photographers are artistic, but don’t have formal art training. And many are used to working in Photoshop but not Painter," Karen Sperling notes. "The Artistry Painting for Photographers Tutorial CD helps fill in some of the gaps about both art techniques and Painter’s tools for photographers who wish to add painterly effects to their photographs."

Adds Painter inventor, Mark Zimmer, "Photography was always, to me, a creative art. The same qualities that draw your eye to a Vermeer are also constantly borne in the mind of the great photographers: composition, points of attention, color balance, the eternal struggle between light and darkness. Karen Sperling's new work, the Artistry Painting for Photographers Tutorial CD, details clearly and directly how the photographer can use his or her skills to transcend the plane of the photograph and enter the pleasing, non-photorealistic world of paintings. For instance, an oil painting of a posed wedding scene might be just what the client is looking for!"

In addition to the Acrobat files, all the images from the tutorials, including interim steps, are on the CD.
