Win: n_Gen Design Machine
Posted on Thursday, August 08
The n_Gen Design Machine is developed by Move Design, Inc., a San Francisco visual communication design firm. n_Gen represents an attempt to define a new design methodology, one that harnesses the computer’s powerful simulation and automation capabilities, freeing the user to focus on design decisions. A little bit like gardening, a bit like genetic engineering, with a touch of gambling thrown in.

Among other things, n_Gen employs random algorithms to generate its designs. Think of it like rolling the dice... you're not going to get a winnner every time and sometimes you will get repeats. Perhaps the best way to think about using n_Gen is not to get too precious about a single image. If you don't entirely like what you see, rather than fuss with it, simply save it to your hard drive and hit the 'n_generate' button again to make something new.

n_Gen allows non-designers to make high quality images quickly... but it can also be used by trained designers as a rapid prototyping and brainstorming tool. Hopefully, n_Gen will make the graphic designer's job just a bit easier.
