Greetings. This is the Fifteenth Photo Safari where the goal is to get your digital camera, film camera, your scanners, your webcams, your pinhole cameras, your cellphone cameras and whatever else you can think of that will take a photo and you can post it here at Graphics.com all to get you out and photograph random things.

The rules are quite simple:

* Once per two weeks or so an item, or items, will be posted in the Digital Photography Forum.
* You will go out and get a picture of the items with only one objective... to make sure the picture shows what you're seeing.
* That's it.
* Seriously. That's it... it's all about showing how you see things to the Graphics.com community/world.

I love the simple rules... allows you so much room to do whatever you wish!

If you haven't read it yet, please take the time to read the Digital Photography FAQ on how to post up your images. However, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them and I'll gladly assist you. Who knows, perhaps there's areas I missed on the FAQ. It happens...

This safari is about tools. Now what those tools might be is up to your imaginations. Power tools, garden tools, tools of your trade or hobbies! Things you consider tools but others might not.

Feel free to take on the idea anyway you see fit... and that's just a start.

I really mean it. Anyway you see fit.

Photo Safari 15:

* Tools

Feel free to experiment, play around, post anything; please keep it civil guys!

Just be creative... and post as many times as you'd wish! And have fun... that's the goal.

Note: Per usual, I should post something. I hope to see you guys do the same.

Ha ha, bags first post!
icon_smile.gif

Looked around my workshop area this morning and of course there are tools everywhere...

My matte cutter, the bit that holds the blades:

Stuff on a wall:

More stuff, two sets of really strong Allen keys:

the side of my underpinner, it drives v shaped wedges up the corners of a frame to hold it together without nails:

the sharp bits of my frame cutting guillotine:

various tools in the ubiquitous olive tins:

That should get your creative juices flowing!

Way cool start there Jos. Been taking the camera to work but haven't had a chance to get pictures yet as I've been too busy.

Great shots Jos. I do not intentionally seek to post first. It's just that when I get an idea I can't stop until it's finished and then I post it before I forget. I guess I will have to learn to control myself in the future and hold back a bit.

Ha, yes I am partial to the odd olive, comes from having owned a pizza parlour 30 odd years ago I guess.

And Barb it took me a while to figure out your post, but here we say 'bags' like 'dibs', ie I claim the first post.

Ahhh, Pizza, my favourite thing, olives or not.

You use a very interesting selection of tools in your work, Jos. The last picture is the most interesting. I like the stuff on the walls too - those are the most businesslike Allen keys I've ever seen.

Very nice shots, Jos. I wish I could ever do such nice pictures of common stuff! I like the guillotine photo very much, nice color sections and great proportions.

Now it's clear where Barb the bags' name stems from: it's not her usual, innocent explanation it's because she always bags the first post in the challenges icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

My Geek Tool: Yes this is my geek tool. It sits on an angled tray and I pull it right up in front of me as I sit in my comfy rocker and prop up my feet.

The image on the screen is one that I created today for the Newsletter Gallery. I'm trying to learn more about displacement maps.

Barb

Barb, this must be one of the most productive laptops in the world. icon_lol.gif How do you handle the mouse so well in this position? I tried to find out this myself but it wouldn't work.

Would you mind asking Bruce to take a picture of you when you're at work?

My tray table adjusts to different heights and angles. Angled is really good for typing. Flat and lower is good for working with images. I angled it to take the picture. In cooler weather I put my laptop on a plastic cutting board and place that on a small pillow on my lap, but in the summer it is to hot to do that, I need some airflow between me and my 'puter. There is also a small table next to my chair that I place my mousepad and mouse on some of the time. It is 7:00 a.m. here and a it's the 4th of July. No work today, Bruce is still sleeping. I'll try to remember to have him take that picture so I can post it here for you.

Ooooo my coffee is ready ... catch ya later ... Barb

Wow that was some fast turn around Barb.

Now me on the other hand, having read a review for a monitor I now need to buy (sigh), need to bail out and go to work! Oh well its only until 3:30 but no need for me to be late.

Ah, now that looks like the perfect working environment - comfort and a cup of tea at hand.

It all looks very patriotic too, with your T Shirt and mouse mat.

Happy 4th July to all. icon_smile.gif
