Controlling Contrast & Detail with Curves & Levels

Increasing contrast is one of the best ways to improve images, often dramatically. Images with good contrast can seem to “pop” off the page and appear to have more detail. This Graphics.com Photoshop tutorial provides a variety of approaches.

Thanks for the post Vootie. I personally prefer using an adjustment layer for the levels when I wish to bring a picture to life. I don't normally tend to use the curves dialogue for this purpose, although I do use curves to adjust the colour balance on my images.
