Social Media 101 Interactive Online Workshop Set for May

You've just found out your responsibility now extends to managing and growing your firm's social media presence. Perhaps you're on the hunt for a new job and realize that a more professional approach to social media may well be part of a plum job requirement. Or you may simply want to use social media more effectively to grow your personal network of influence. In any of these cases Social Media 101 may well provide a solution thanks to its commitment to teach best practices for use of the major social media sites.

Designed for beginners as "an interactive online boot camp," the course will show participants how to get set up on each platform, share meaningful content and how to engage with audiences across various sites. The full scope of features that the major social media services have to offer will be covered, with specifics on such skills as techniques for time management and when to distribute content across various sites, as well as discussion of new tools and mobile apps.

Event organizer Mediabistro has spread the online program of Social Media 101 over a four-week period. During this time participants will begin each week by listening to a live keynote speech by a social media power user, followed by an interactive Q&A session; engage in how-to sessions that provide instructor-led step by step instruction; receive one-on-one feedback from an advisor within a small homework group, providing the opportunity to ask questions and seek help; complete weekly homework assignments; and benefit from peer interaction by working closely with a small group and making connections with the entire attendee roster. Course sessions include Twitter: Learn The Power of Microblogging; Facebook: Personal Profiles and Business Pages; LinkedIn: Get the Most Out of the Social Network for Business Professionals; and Pinterest, Quora, Instagram, Foursquare, and Tumblr: An Overview of Niche and Emerging Platforms.

By the end of the course, participants will have a solid working knowledge of the major social media platforms for use in their professional and personal lives; mastery of best practices for using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram and Tumblr, along with complete profiles on each site; and a deep understanding of how to create content relevant to their audience on each platform. Participants will finish with an understanding of how to create content relevant to their audience on each platform.

More information and registration for the event, which runs from May2 through June 1, 2015, is available on the Social Media 101 site.
