Output Factory Server Updated for Automating Adobe InDesign Output
Output Factory Server is an output workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign, which automates printing and exporting to PDF and PostScript by processing InDesign files from network-based hot folders. It automates, simplifies and streamlines output workflows of publishing houses, printers, prepress service providers and ad agencies, by freeing users from the need to wait for InDesign to output files.
Output Factory Server also contains a single set of output settings for an entire workgroup, eliminating the need to set up and maintain the settings on each workstation. Production artists and prepress operators simply submit files to hot folders. The software automatically outputs the files from its station, and will also auto-activate required fonts. While the software runs on a Mac, it can process InDesign files from both Mac and Windows computers.
Options include the possibility to export InDesign documents as single pages; update links automatically; impose booklets during printing by using InDesign's Print Booklet feature, which is said to help commercial printers automate and streamline InDesign imposition tasks; and ignore links on the pasteboard when checking InDesign documents for missing images.
The latest version allows users to create large format JPEG images that exceed the file size limitations imposed by InDesign. Also new is the ability to embed a document's color profile to preserve the original image color values in exported TIFF and JPEG files.
Output Factory Server for InDesign CS3-CC can be purchased for $699.95 on the Zevrix Solutions website, with a trial version provided for download. A non-server plugin version, Output Factory, is also available.
