Call for Entries: Segunda llamada International Poster Competition

While there a plethora of design contests, perhaps the most popular is for posters. Just recently we've covered the Posterheroes contest, the HOW Poster Design Awards, the World Biennial Exhibition of Student Posters and the Graphis Poster Annual. And we're still discovering new ones.

Take for example the Segunda llamada international poster competition, which is held every two years, each time with a different theme. In 2013 it was devoted to the responsible handling of plastic waste, with some of the entries shown below. This year the theme of the event, held in collaboration with Greenpeace Mexico and Food Myth Busters, is "Processed foods: Do you really know what you eat?"

The answer is, of course, usually not, which should make for some interesting posters. An international jury will select winners based on criteria of concept originality, graphic quality and message clarity. The work of forty finalists will become part of a traveling exhibition and a catalog, although it's not clear if the catalog will be digital or printed.

The closing date for submission is July 6, 2015, with more information and galleries of previous winners available on the Segunda llamada site.
