Call for Entries: The Mini Print International of Cadaqués
While the tendency seems to be to create ever-larger works of art, there's something to be said for working within the limitations of a small format. One celebration of this is the annual Mini Print International, held in Cadaqués, Spain. Now in its 35th year, the competition last year attracted 750 entries from artists in 56 countries. Work can employ any printing techniques but the main requirement is that the image area must be no larger than 10 by 10 cm (3.9 by 3.9 inches).
Six winners are chosen by a jury from the entries submitted each year, as well as ten finalists. While the cost of entering for those outside Spain is a rather steep $100, the attraction lies in the opportunity to sell work during a variety of exhibitions in the scenic town of Cadaqués, as well as in France and other venues, which span almost a year. The six winners also have the possibility of staging a one-person show of their own in Cadaqués. Beyond that, work from each year is displayed on the exhibition's site, as well as in a full-color catalog sent to the winners.
Below are the six winners from the 2014 contest, as well as a few favorites from the finalists. The deadline for entering is March 15, 2015.
