Call for Entries: Graphis Logo Design 9
Graphis, The International Journal of Visual Communication, was first published in 1944 by Dr. Walter Amstutz and Walter Herdeg in Zurich, Switzerland. Graphis presented the work of fine artists and illustrators, as well as highlighting the formative years of graphic design as we know it today. Advertising and photography were also featured, and Amstutz selectively chose what he felt to be the best talent of the time, with the Graphis Annual introduced in 1952.
In 2005 the magazine was discontinued, with the following years seeing the improvement of the Graphis Annuals. The current website was also launched, which displays contest entries as well as an archive of award-winning work from the Annuals and digital versions of past magazines.
Graphis currently produces Design, Advertising, Annual Reports, Logo Design, Photography, Poster and New Talent Annuals, with published work selected from among the entries. Gold and Platinum winners are presented in a 250-page coffee table-style Annual, which is read by professional and corporate audiences internationally. All winners receive a certificate and exposure on the site, with Platinum winners also being featured in the site's blog.
The deadline for the Logo Annual, which appears every two years, has not yet been set but entries are being accepted on the Graphis site, some of which are shown below. A gallery of winning entries from past competitions is also available.
