Call for Entries: The CLIO Awards
Founded in 1959, the CLIO Awards has grown into the most recognized international awards competition for advertising, design, digital and communications. The 2014 event received more than 10,000 entries, with the majority originating outside the US. In an acknowledgement that marketing and advertising have grown exponentially in size and complexity, the organizers have launched several extensions of the awards: CLIO Image, CLIO Healthcare, CLIO Music and CLIO Sports.
Last year marked the 55th anniversay of the CLIO Awards, accompanied by an awards ceremony that included a memorable acceptance speech from Jerry Seinfeld, shown below. Creative work first appearing in public between January 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015 in such categories as Branded Entertainment, Design, Print and Digital is now being accepted for the CLIO Awards. The CLIO judging process is known for its democratic approach to recognizing creative excellence. Fewer than 20% of submissions, within a media type, survive the first two rounds, from which juries re-evaluate the work to determine Gold, Silver and Bronze statues along with the Shortlist. Less than 5% of all entries receive a statue, and less than 1% receive the Gold CLIO.
Entries will be judged by a panel of top industry executives, with the winners being announced at the 56th annual CLIO Awards on September 30 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. More information is available on the CLIO site, with the early deadline set for April 3, 2015. The site also provides a gallery of winners from the previous event, with a few examples shown below.
