Call for Entries: 3x3 International Illustration Awards

There are many places to discover current illustration work, both online and in print. Founded in 2003, 3x3 is attempting to provide a focal point for this work, describing itself as "the first publication devoted entirely to the art of contemporary illustration." To that end it publishes a print and digital version of its namesake magazine and amplifies this with such resources for illustrators as conferences, webinars, portfolio reviews and workshops.

Also of note is the 3x3 International Illustration Awards, now in its 13th year, for which entries are currently being accepted. Awards include best of show, gold, silver and bronze medals as well as distinguished merit and merit awards and honorable mentions, with winners being promoted online and in the press. The Annual featuring the winners is distributed on newsstands worldwide, with the digital version offered free to a select list of art directors, who also receive a discount when ordering the print edition. Winners also have the option of participating in the 2017 Illustration Directory, which will be sent free to more than 6,000 art directors and art buyers in America.

The early deadline for entries is March 25, 2016, with the final deadline being April 1. More information is available on the 3X3 site, as well as galleries of past winners, from which we've chosen a few examples below. The illustration at top is by Alice Kolb.
