The 2016 iPhone Photography Award Winners
Launched in 2007, the annual IPPAWARDS is a showcase for photos created with an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It's permissible for entries to have been modified by an iOS app but "not be altered in any desktop image processing program such as Photoshop," so using the mobile version of Photoshop and similar image editors is allowed.
The prizes are impressive enough, with the top three picks from the thousands of entries submitted last year from 139 countries snagging a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini and the winning entries from each of the many categories receiving a gold bar, of all things, while second and third received one made of palladium (a metal that perhaps not coincidentally has the smbol Pd, although its use in creating platinotype prints may also be factor). Other prizes included the IPPA Photographer of the Year Award title, with exposure and certificates provided to the rest of the winning entries. Entries are currently being accepted for the tenth iteration, with the deadline being March 31, 2017. Below are the top winners from the 2016 competition, with more entries available for viewing on the IPPAWARDS site.
